Mission:
The Hispanic American Scouting Association’s mission is to achieve equity in Hispanic Scouting participation and representation in the geographic boundaries of Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council, Scouting America.
What is Amigos de HASA?
HASA performs a lot of community outreach. Last year, we encountered a lot of interest! But the interest is very spread out geographically and challenging to coalesce into a new unit. We want these youth and families in Scouting! So, we introduce Amigos de HASA
As an Amigo de HASA unit you agree to
Welcome Hispanic youth and families into your unit
Assign an adult new member coordinator (bilingual a plus!) that will promptly interact with new youth & families
Keep in touch with HASA on membership status of youth/families who we've referred to your unit
HASA will
Keep a list of Amigos de HASA units
Perform community outreach at social events
Refer interested Hispanic (and all other) youth & families we meet to the closest Amigos de HASA unit
Follow up with your unit on our referrals
Please remember that Hispanic youth typically speak excellent English. Many times it is their parents that benefit from having a bilingual contact within your unit.
